Rearcross U-11's secured their first home win of the campaign with a merited 5-2 win over Puckane United last Saturday afternoon. Rearcross made the livelier start and hit the front with just two minutes gone when Stephen Rochford's cross field ball picked out Patrick Dawson who kept his composure with a good finish. The visiting custodian turned in a fine display in the opening half with a string of saves, the first coming on three minutes with a fine block from the boot of Patrick Dawson. Puckane counter attacked and Sean Malone put in a crucial tackle to avert the danger and then the visiting keeper produced a reflex save to deny Patrick Dawson again. The Puckane number one then thwarted Colm Lenihan with another good block. The home side stretched their lead to two midway through the half when Cillian Kennedy threaded through to Patrick Dawson who finished with aplomb. Patrick Dawson's effort came off the crossbar minutes later while at the other end Stephen Rochford tracked back to break up a promising Puckane move. Rearcross took a three lead to the break when Patrick Dawson turned provider to Cillian Kennedy who advanced on the right before finishing inside the post a minute before the half time whistle. The visitors had the last say of the half when DJ McGrath waltzed through before finishing with a good effort on the stroke of half time. The home side were on top at the start of the second half and increased their tally to 4-1 when Cathal Kennedy prodded home from close range. It was end to end for most of the second half as Puckane pulled a goal back five minutes from time when Brian West bundled the ball over the line. Rearcross picked it up again and new signing Jack Morrissey capped off a fine debut for Rearcross with a well taken goal in stoppage time to copper fasten the win for the home side.
